Every school has to foster transparency, accountability and make it known to the community and stakeholders of what happened in the whole school year. And that is why State of the School Address (SOSA) must be done in each school.
Rafael Palma Elementary School conducted the Virtual State of the School Address 2020 last September 21, 2021. School head, Mr. Mario T. Endico, presented the school profile, programs/projects, funding sources, awards and recognition, facilities, academic performance and stakeholders’ participation to more than 400 participants through virtual presentation.
Mr. Mario Endico dynamically started the school address with the school’s profile which includes the total number of teaching personnel with their current highest educational attainment and the total number of non-teaching personnel. It was followed by the different school projects/programs. This includes the Project INCENTIVE (Increase Enrolment Towards Improved and Viable Education) which discussed the comparison of the enrolment for the last three consecutive years and its slight increase in each school year. Zero drop-out that was met by the school for the last three years was shown in Project SAVE (Students Appreciate and Value Education). Another recommendable program was the Project INSPIRE (Interventions Strengthening for Pupils Improvement in Reading) in which it presented the reading level of learners in three successive years. This project aims to target about 25% of the learners under remediation should be able to read with comprehension at the end of the school year. Among those achieved programs was Project APPEAR (Activate Parents on Practical Engagement and Response) that displayed the active participation of parents in the last three years. Added to the presentation was Project HEART(Honing Expertise of Accountable Reading Teachers) which covers the Reading Enhancement and Remedial Readings in English and Filipino. The last but not the least was Project HELP-SBM (Hasten the Elevation of Level of Practice of School-Based Management) reported that in the current school year school’s SBM finally got Level III (Advanced) on its Level of Practice.
Mr. Endico ardently reported some of the school ‘s new facilities like WINS (Wash in School). These are the old plant boxes converted into washing areas in ground floor of the school building. Another were the GGP (Gulayan sa Paaralan Program). He also noted in his presentation the ratio of the following: teacher – learner, learner-classroom, learner-seat, and learner-toilet – in which the school has the standard ratio between learners and the school facilities and personnel. He also included the school’s comparative academic performance in the last 3 years and presented that the lowest performance was in the new normal in education or online class. Among those most important in his reports were the funding sources and stakeholders’ participation. The schools’ stakeholders contributed different needed items with a total of Php 195, 530.00 he sincerely thanked those stakeholders.
The school address ended with a beautiful and meaningful quote that reads as “Unity is strength… when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” The qu0te sums up the school’s state address to the community and indeed, it was a successful SOSA 2020.
