RPES Overnight Camp 2024
The 2024 Overnight Camp of boy scouts in Rafael Palma Elementary School (RPES) was held on February 2-3, 2024 spearheaded by their institutional head Dr. Mark Anthony F. Familaran.
A total of 65 boy scouts and 15 adult leaders participated in the said event according to Sctr. Jobert M. Manlongat, school’s BSP focal person. The participants consisted of 20 scouts from Grade 4, 25 from Grade 5 and 20 from Grade 6. Sctr. Marlyn D. Fabro and Rover scouts Circle 3 are present in the event with their circle adviser and council board member Sctr. Jhon Rey Q. Capistrano and Sctr. Lorenz Ivan L. Magistrado, circle 3 manager. RPES Master Teachers and Scouters also attended and facilitated the said event.
The boy scouts are divided into eight Patrols – Golden Cobra, Yellow Hamster, Flying Lion, Walking Eagle, tiger, Shadow Eagle, Golden Eagle and Kalabaw Warriors. Each patrol is accompanied by one qualified adult leader.
The activities during first day are the following: Patrol System and Flag Making lead by Sctr. Lorenz Ivan L. Magistrado, Smartness and Good Order discussed by Sctr. Jhon Rey Q. Capistrano, Scouting Ideals discussed by Aljon C. Diolola and Scouting Song led by Sctr. Hiyasmin V. Felix.
In the evening, the campfire activity was initiated by their Institutional Head Dr. Mark Anthony F. Familaran with fellow adult leaders and rover scouts. Yells and cheers filled the air when scouts from different patrols showed what they’ve got to impress the judges with their wits, humor and talents as campfire highlighted the presentation of yell songs, and skits held at Rafael Palma Covered Court. Afterwards, Ms. Karen I. Maceda, Master Teacher I told a story about “The Three Little Pigs” and asked the scouts its morale. The night ended with scouts holding hands while singing the song “Kumbaya” and the passing of message.
In the second day, the following activities are: bandanging lead by Sctr. Carl Denver Hilario, knot tying lead by Sctr. Jhon Renz Tangon, Lashing lead by Sctr. Yaoming Yong, Flag Folding lead by Sctr. Annie Rose Lucas and Obstacle Course lead by Sctr. Jhon Mark D. Balbin and Sctr. Aljon C. Diolola.
During the afternoon, the awarding of winners of each activity and recognition of the rover scouts and scouters for their invaluable contribution during the activity happened.
Overall, the event was indeed a success!
